How long should a lap top computer battery last?
I just bought a nicely loaded Toshiba lap top and I let the battery on it charge over night but it still only lasted about 45 minutes. Is this normal or should I take it back?
I was only using it to old fashioned 2d games.
Like you, I once believed that when a laptop was advertised as lasting x hours on battery power... it would last x hours on battery power regardless of what I was doing with my laptop. Unfortunately, the advertising is deceiving... I called my laptop's manufacturerer and discovered that a Laptop battery's usage time is dependent on the number and types of applications I am using while running on battery power..
You mentioned that your laptop is "nicely loaded." Although you said that your laptop "lasted about 45 minutes," 45 minutes could be considered "normal" depending on the programs or utilities you were running on you laptop for those 45 minutes.
Some laptops are compatible with different types of batteries. For example, I use a 6 cell battery in my laptop, but I could purchase a 12 cell battery if I wanted to extend the usage time of my laptop on battery power.
My old laptop had the option of inserting 2 rechargable batteries into the unit to extend the usage time of the laptop on battery power.
