Is a DDR3 Intel-based processor going to work with a DDR2 Motherboard?
Hey guys, I've been looking for a new processor for a long time now, and I was wondering if a DDR3 processor is going to work with a DDR2 Motherboard (ASUS).
Help appreciated.
A processor will work with any motherboard that has the same socket it should fit into. So if you can find a DDR2 motherboard with the same socket as your "DDR3 processor" (I'm thinking you mean either an i7 which would be 1366 or an i5/i7 800 series which has socket 1156) then it will work. As far as I know there are no DDR2 motherboards for socket 1366. However it's possible with the i5/i7 800 series.
How to Enhance the Video Performance of Integrated Motherboard in the BIOS
Video performance is the uppermost bottleneck in the integrated motherboard working. Especially in some graphics capability tested programs like 3D games, these on-board video cards would exposure more flaws. However we can increase the video performance by adjusting some settings in BIOS.
1. AGP Date Rote
For the normal independent motherboards, the higher the AGP rate of Video card, the better; but in on-board video cards, too high AGP rate would bring about uncertain factors to the system, so you’d better keep the default setting in built-in video cards.
2. AGP Fast Write
Fast Write can increase the performance of your integrated video card but it also has some negative effects on the stability of the system. According to experience, currently many on-board video cards have this option.
3. Graphic Window WR Combine
This option is seen in a number of integrated motherboards based on SIS chipset. Opening it can optimize the read-write capability of the graphic system.
4. Video BIOS Cacheable
Though it can enhance the graphics performance to some extent after enabling Video BIOS Cacheable, once some programs write data into this address, computer crashes would happen. Therefore, closing this option is recommended.
5. AGP Aperture Size
Video memory assignment at all times is the dilemma for integrated motherboard users: if you set it too big, the memory would decrease, the overall performance would be affected; but if you set it too small, graphics features would be affected. You should assign the video memory according to the memory capacity of your computer. Through the actual use, the difference between 64MB and 128MB video memory in the?AGP Aperture Size items is not obvious. In practice, 64MB is enough to satisfy the need of a great number of new pattern built-in video cards, and some sis630 older integrated display cards only need 16MB video memory.
