replace processor socket 495 with 462?
i have a intel pIII 450Mhz (socket 495)and i want to replace it with a (socket 462) AMD Mobile Athlon, 2 GHz (AXMS2000GXS4C) Processor. is there a way to do this?
interesting.
I don't know but if someone find out, i'll be amazed.
It should be gorgeous if you can improve PC speed, right? Follow the below methods to change some computer settings and your dream will come true.
(1) Let WindowsXP to detect the capacity of level 2 cache of processor automatically.
WindowsXP is unable to do that until we set the function in the registry editor manually. When you have opened the registry editor, you will need to find out "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlSession ManagerMemory Management" then click "SecondLevelDataCache" and then change the settings according to your own processer. For example, PIII Coppermine/P4 Willamette is 256, Athlon XP is 384 and P4 Northwood is 512.
(2) Improve system cache.
From "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlSession ManagerMemory Management", find out the key "LargeSystemCache" and then change the key value from 0 to 1. That way, WindowsXP will assign all system memory (except those beyond 4M) to cache so that the core of WindowsXP can run in memory, which will increase system speed as a return.
Notice that this method can improve the system performance in a certain way while it may reduce the performance of some applications. Besides, you should have at least 265M memory, otherwise, this method is not recommended.
(3) Disable the paging of memory
Normally, WindowsXP will write the defragment of memory into hard disk and now we can stop the procedure to reserve the data in memory to improve the system performance by the below steps:
Open registry editor -> find out "DisablePagingExecutive" key under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlSession ManagerMemory Management" -> change the key value from 0 to 1.
That is all. See more detailed information, visit: improve PC speed
