to upgrade ram to 3GB or not to?
Here's the issue. i have a toshiba u-305 with a Duo core T5450 @ 1.66 GHz. And I already have 2 GB of Ram, I think it's DDR2 SDRAMs. I just bought a 2 GB for a bargain price, but I am just wondering if my laptop will make a full use of the extra memory?
Any tips?
If you've got enough modules to go to 3 GiB then just do it and not worry about whether you'll get the full use out of them (though 3 GiB shouldn't hit the memory hole).
If you go all the way to 4 GiB you'll probably only be able to use a bit more than 3 GiB (since you probably have a 32 bit OS) but RAM is cheap enough for that not to be much of an issue, besides, that computer has an i965 chipset which can remap memory to move the memory that would be in the memory hole above it and give you access to the full 4 GiB of RAM if you are running a 64 bit OS (but you probably aren't).
